Completing the Certificate IV in Real Estate Victoria is a mandatory step towards obtaining your real estate agent licence. This qualification equips you with the knowledge and skills needed to work in the property sector, including interpreting legislation, managing trust accounts, and handling operational finances.
This qualification reflects the role of real estate professionals who apply knowledge of real estate practice legal agency and compliance requirements, ethical standards and consumer preferences to conduct real estate functions.
Completing this course opens doors to various roles in the real estate industry, such as:
• Agent’s Representative.
• Real estate sales consultant focusing on residential property sales.
• Property manager or buyer’s advocate.
It also lays the foundation for further qualifications, enabling you to manage your own real estate agency or specialise in areas like pre-auction processes and agency management.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no entry requirements for this course. However, this course is recommended for individuals with some experience in the Real Estate Industry, with a good level of digital literacy, interpersonal and communication skills. To be eligible for a real estate license, applicants must be 18 years or older.
Students must have access to a computer, other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online / pre-course studies.
International students holding a student visa are not eligible to enroll in courses.
CPT courses require LLN (Language, Literacy and Numeracy) capabilities, such as a working knowledge of the English language and an understanding of various mathematical calculations. To ensure your ability to successfully complete our courses, you are required to demonstrate your LLN skills by completing a short quiz prior to your enrolment – LLN Quiz

To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in eighteen (18) units of competency:
- 4001 – Prepare for professional practice in real estate
- 4002 – Access and interpret ethical practice in real estate
- 4003 – Access and interpret legislation in real estate
- 4004 – Establish marketing and communication profiles in real estate
- 4005 – Prepare to work with real estate trust accounts
- 4101 – Appraise property for sale or lease
- 4102 – Market property
- 4103 – Establish vendor relationships
- 4104 – Establish buyer relationships
- 4105 – Sell property
- 4121 – Establish landlord relationships
- 4122 – Manage tenant relationships
- 4123 – Manage tenancy
- 4124 – End tenancy
- 4125 – Transact in trust accounts
- 4171 – Represent buyer in sale process
- 4172 – Develop and promote Industry knowledge – buyers agent
- 4173 – Complete purchase of property as buyers agent

All units of competency and course content are nationally accredited and recognised by Consumer Affairs Victoria.
ALLOWABLE TIME
• Students will have 12 months to complete the course.
UPON COMPLETION
Once you have completed and submitted all of your course assessments you will be assessed. If deemed competent by the Assessor, you will receive your CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice. Following this, when you gain employment, your employer is required to verify that you are eligible to be an agent’s representative and notify the Business Licensing Authority (BLA) on your behalf.
STUDENTS WILL REQUIRE
• A computer or device with Microsoft Office to access learning materials, to undertake online assessments and conduct research.
• Internet access for research, submitting assessment items, email for communication purposes, assistance and class access if completing the course via ZOOM.
• Notebook, pen and a marker to take notes.
• A Unique Student Identifier (USI) that can be obtained at www.usi.gov.au
STUDENT JOURNEY
CPT offers the option of completing this course with an interactive and intensive workshop involving delivery of theory, completion of assessments activities and roleplays, suiting the participant based on their availability and location.
• Intensive face-to-face workshop – five (5) days plus an additional day for mandatory completion of roleplays
• Intensive live Zoom session (day, evening or weekends)
Our face-to-face workshops and live Zoom sessions start at 0900am and finish at 0400pm and have mandatory attendance.
