What you need to know
Queensland real estate licensees and registered persons are required to complete two CPD sessions within each CPD year (either two Type 1’s or one Type 1 and one Type 2).
Your CPD year is the 12-month period immediately before your licence renewal date — so your CPD deadline is tied to when your licence is due, not a fixed calendar date. This means you only report once, at renewal, which keeps things simple.
How to meet your CPD Requirements?
Step 1 — Find your licence issue date
Check your current licence or registration. If you hold multiple licences, use the earliest issue date.
Step 2 — Check your CPD dates
Use the OFT CPD Calculator to confirm your exact CPD year. Or call us on 1800 518 258 — our team can look it up with you.
Step 3 — Book two sessions with CPT
Choose any two of our Type 1 CPD sessions. Each session covers content that goes beyond the compliance checkbox — topics include legal and regulatory updates, risk and professional conduct, and practical skills in sales, leadership and communication.
Step 4 — Keep your certificate
CPT issues a certificate of completion after each session. Hold onto it for at least five years — you may be asked to produce it by the OFT. If you lose yours, we can reissue a replacement (fees apply).
CPD for New Licensees
If you received your first licence after June 2025, you’re exempt from CPD for your first year. Your CPD obligations begin one year after your licence was granted.
Reporting — it’s straightforward
You don’t submit paperwork or certificates when renewing your licence. You simply declare CPD completion on your renewal form. The OFT records your declaration and may verify it during compliance visits, so it’s important your certificates are accurate and accessible. False declarations can result in compliance action, including loss of licence.
