How to become a Real Estate Agent in Qld

The steps to becoming a Real Estate Agent in Queensland are relatively simple.

Firstly you need to be eligible to hold a Real Estate Licence or Certificate and the criteria for that is as follows:-

. You must be 18 years of age
. You must pass the required training course
. Have not been convicted of a serious crime
. Be an Australian citizen or have a working visa

Once you have successfully completed your training course through a Registered Training Organisation you will receive a Statement of Attainment.  This Statement of Attainment will show you have achieved competency in either the 7 units to become a Salesperson or Property Manager or, the 19 units to become a Fully Licenced Real Estate Agent, capable of owning your own business.

You will need to submit this Statement of Attainment together with an Application Form to the Office of Fair Trading who will issue your Licence.  The application involves doing a police check and checking your eligibility which can take 4 to 6 weeks in total.

Once you have received your Certificate or Licence you are then able to carry on the duties of a Real Estate Agent.

Remembering, if you only hold a Certificate you must be employed by a fully Licenced Agent.  You cannot work independently unless you hold a Full Real Estate Agent's Licence.

Training options include face to face classroom style, online or correspondence.  Face to face is by far the most effective, as you have the classroom interaction, are able to ask questions and get clarification and discussion immediately.  Completing your course online can be time consuming which is why 40% of people who start online courses don’t complete them.

Complete Property Training is the largest provider of face to face Courses in Queensland with training centres in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
